I had the privilege of representing my JC in the 2024 Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine Anatomy Challenge, and it was an incredibly exciting experience. It gave me a deeper understanding of the medical curriculum and the advanced facilities available, including state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and the Anatomage table, which fascinated me. I was especially intrigued by the various aspects of anatomy we explored, such as gross anatomy and imaging, which further fueled my passion for medicine and reinforced my desire to pursue a career in this field.

I participated in NUH Healthcare Immersion Programme, where I was attached to a doctor for four days during my June holidays. During this time, I had the privilege of observing Prof. Lau Tang Ching as he ran his Rheumatology clinic, and it was truly an inspiring and exciting experience. That moment was pivotal in helping me realize that I wanted to become a doctor; he wasn’t just someone who prescribed medication and handed out medical certificates—he was a friend and a trusted figure to his patients as well. I also had the chance to follow a team of doctors, including Dr. Ho Hui Min, Dr. Claire Tan, Prof. Manjari Lahiri, and Dr. Chong Kar Mun, which gave me valuable insights into the collaborative nature of hospital-based medicine. Additionally, we had the chance to speak with Ms. Lim Xin Yuan, an NUS M4 student, which deepened my understanding of the Medicine course in University. Overall, this job shadowing experience was both educational and inspiring, solidifying my interest in pursuing a career in medicine.
